EDGE GILDING | NYC
Publicide’s Edge Gilding service is the culmination of our custom printing processes, and adds an unforgettable and luxurious finish to any custom card. Gilding is the final step of our production process, and requires very careful work, including precision cutting, light sanding, and the application of the edge gilding leaf to the paper.
Business Cards, Invitations, Notecards and Letterhead are a few of the stationery items that benefit from edge gilding. In addition to stationery, Publicide can provide foil gilding on book and notepaper pages as well. We offer standard foil colors in Gold, Silver + Copper, along with specialty foil colors by request including Black, Pink, Blue, Red — even Holographic Foil Edge Gilding!
Both edge gilding and edge painting are processes applied to the edge of the paper, so it stands to reason that the thicker the paper, the more dramatic the effect! The main difference between the two is that edge painting creates a matte colored edge in contrast to the metallic foils and mirror finishes of gilding.
At Publicide, we strive to stay competitive with the changing needs of our customers while staying true to the craft of printing. In addition to our wide range of capabilities, we offer a staggering variety of unique papers, combined with the insight and experience to make the most of every job, that’s why we’ve been edge gilding in NYC since 2006!
PRICING + PRODUCTION NOTES
Edge gilding pricing is based on quantity, paper type, paper thickness and final quantity of the the order. More elaborate and larger items cost considerably more to gild than smaller orders so it’s important to get a quote before proceeding. Production time varies with order complexity and our seasonal workload but gilding generally adds 1-2 weeks turnaround to most projects. Turnaround time is calculated from the date of PDF proof approval. If your buckslip has a hard due-date please let us know when making your request. Email us with your design file or specs to receive a custom quote. All projects must have a custom quote number to proceed. We offer scheduled meetings at our NYC Print Shop but prefer to send preliminary pricing before scheduling so that we can all start off on the same page.
