Debossing or deep impression printing is an excellent print technique to add a tactile and dimensional feel to your business stationery. While every design takes on a different effect when debossing, thicker and larger logos perform best when plunging into cottony, plush paper stock. Debossing is also great for book covers and other premade objects.
People often ask us if their deboss will be legible. We find that a punched-in stamp creates a play of shadow and light against the existing surface texture. For bold designs, a more textured surface is appropriate, but for fine lines, it is best to stamp into a very smooth material to ensure maximum visibility. Looking for tone-on-tone printing? Debossing is probably the best bet, though depending on the material we may suggest adding heat or even clear foil to the debossing stamp in order to increase visibility. Well-executed whisper brands are a rare thing, so it’s essential to find out exactly how much needs to be revealed! Business cards and stationery, buckslips and invites are perfect for deep impression printing. Give us a call today to find out more!
DEBOSSING | PRICING + PRINT PRODUCTION NOTES
Pricing for deboss printing is based on quantity, paper type and the number of processes and machines that will be used in creating the order. More elaborate and custom print specs cost considerably more than standard orders, so it’s important to get a quote before proceeding. Production time varies with order complexity and our seasonal workload but our elastic schedule allows for very fast rush prints when required, though rush charges apply. Turnaround time is calculated from the date of PDF proof approval. If your debossing project has a hard due-date please let us know when making your request. Email us with your design file or specs to receive a custom quote. All projects must have a custom quote number to proceed.
Some print specs are available for rush printing service. To inquire about a rush job, please email artwork, print specifications and desired completion date ASAP to email@example.com. If we’re able to accommodate your schedule we will reply with pricing and additional costs for the rush. Rush printing is one of our specialties but please be aware that every moment counts in a rush print schedule. Some jobs will require additional shifts and weekend work to finish on time so the price can be significantly higher than jobs on a regular schedule.
